Why do dogs love snow?
I am a pet and family photographer in Charlotte, NC. We had a lot of snow this morning. Many dogs (except my senior dachshunds, KAB and Bella) love playing snow! But why? According to Stanley Coren, a scientist and Professor of Psychology at the University of British Columbia, dogs like to manipulate their environment. Dogs will play in a pile of leaves, just like the way kids do—the mind of a dog is very much like that of a two-year-old. Snow provides dogs with a new material to interact with, which they find fun and exciting.
“They will roll and bounce in it—it’s really the fun of manipulating something,” Mr. Coren said. “It is essentially playing behavior.”
So, Just have fun and enjoy the snow!! It will be melted soon!
